Ornithogalum – Umbellatum Star of Bethlehem
White & Green Ornithogalum Bulbs for Sale | Umbellatum
Ornithogalum Umbellatum, commonly known as Star of Bethlehem, may not be the flashiest bloomers in the late spring garden, but they’re perfect for filling in the blank spaces between larger plants. A top-notch “weaver,” these bright white blooms love to peek through the foliage of surrounding plants to create a starry garden display.
The delicate flowers open when sunlight is present to reveal green stripes outside of each petal and close in cloudy weather or at night. First grown in 1593, this heirloom variety is easy to grow and makes a fantastic partner for Daylilies, Hostas, Geraniums, and many other leafy perennials.
