Quite literally the opposite of mellow yellow, this low-maintenance Asclepias is a prized perennial characterized by blazing yellow flower clusters. Much to the delight of butterflies, hummingbirds, and songbirds, the sunny blossoms are produced from early summer through early fall. Plus, you can encourage even more carefree flowers by cutting back the spent blooms!
Fun Fact: Asclepias are the only plants monarch butterflies will lay their eggs on. Therefore, when you grow a Butterfly Bush, you’re actually supporting this spectacular butterfly species.
